Eric Smith, J.D., serves as President of the VALOR Board of Directors. He is an Associate Professor of Law at the Florida Coastal School of Law, Florida A&M University, and Director of the FCSL/FAMU Center for Strategic Governance and International Initiatives. He is also on the Boards of Directors for the National League of Cities and the National Victim Center, Co-Founder of the National Organization of Victims Assistance, has twice served as President of the Jacksonville City Council (Florida), and has served in the Florida House of Representatives, where he was the primary sponsor of the Crimes Compensation Act of 1977. Mr. Smith is a contributor to the Legal News series of the Jacksonville Business Journal and originated a weekly television interview program, People and Politics, which airs on a Jacksonville area cable station. He serves on the Jacksonville Mayor's Growth Management Task Force and has chaired the City of Jacksonville International Relations and Marketing Development Commission. Mr. Smith travels and speaks nationally and internationally on government service, economic development and international trade. He is married and lives in the Jacksonville area.
